I went here last night for the quiz (starts 8pm ish not 9) and all the bar staff I spoke to were polite, didn't see any of the problems other users have reported. Bit rubbish on the ale front - just John Smiths, no real ales.

Had a good evening, the quizmaster is great, enthusiastic and it's all for charidy which is nice.

Also had some of the Thai food which was really good.

Seems a bit like a pub trying to be a restaurant which i really hate as it tends to kill the atmosphere but that aside i'd happily go back for the quiz night.

davidpc, how right you are! Rude Manager is an understatement........ I think she should go on a customer service course! What a shame that it has come to the fact that my girlfriend and I who used to go in to this pub all the time, will not be returning due to her not knowing how to smile let alone deal with customers.

We will not be returning and also spreading the word.

Hi, This used to be a great pub, then for some reason they have lost the great bar staff and friendly smile. We moved to the area a few months ago and really enjoyed having a chilled out local with great food and extremly friendly staff.

However recently this has all changed, we have been welcomed by a moody, unpleasant so called land lady who would be suited in a dark dirty pub near the Glasgow docks serving people who do not care for customer service or simple manners.

I would avoid the pub until they hire new staff who suit the great surroundings the pub has and hopefully the battle axe behind the bar will realise that she is better suited behind a desk or in the kitchen, not as the face of a great pub.

You will understand the above when you visit.

Good luck.

post refurb, business appears to have picked up, with some new customers appearing on the scene, in addition to the regulars.

No tellies any more, therefore Arab Boy for football.

Does do real ales (not on at time of visit) and the usual range of lagers plus Tiger (Anchor also perhaps? Can but ask). The South East Asian colonial theme is a bit of a hoot but why not? It's comfortable and some of the bar staff are stunning. It is technically a pub despite selling itself more as a restaurant.
