The Railway is ok but even though it's a nice enough pub it's far too small and because of this it's always packed. I'd probably go more often if it was a bit bigger. reallifeperson - 3 May 2008 12:38
Used to go regularly but got fed up with the landlord's over zealous kicking out tactics. Beer was normally pretty good tho. Blumer - 26 Apr 2008 19:09
I really like this pub. The staff are friendly and efficient, and there are always enough of them behind the bar to provide you with unusually fast service. I find this pub as close to traditional as you can get, and I grew up in Wensleydale. I'm a bitter drinker, and the bitter is very well kept, far better than any other Holt's pub I've been in to, and at £1.85 a pint you really cannot complain. The pub is always clean and tidy, and I have never experienced unclean toilets in there. Keep up the good work! Richy_Rich - 12 Jul 2007 00:38
Johnny Deep was not there ! It was a look alike paid to go to a party nearby and he happened to stop at the bar for a beer... anonymous - 19 Jan 2006 14:15
Genuine enough place. Decent beers if you like the holts taste. The odd local star can be seen having a beer here from time to time. Good place to grab a pint before haeding to the excellent 'Great Katmandhu' nepalese restaurant across the road that many consider to be Manchester's best Indian food adrianstevenson - 24 Aug 2005 10:01
