This is just what you’d expect from a walkabout with plasmas dotted about and not much seating. There is a bar down some steps at the rear, but it is just as bad as the front bar.

Ok for huge groups of lads to go on a rampage and for watching sport.

If you like paddling around in piss and listening to antipodean oafs bemoaning Britain whilst earning may multiples of the wage they could earn back home then this is the pub for you.

Was probably at its best when England beat the Aussies in the 2003 World Cup final if only to listen to the extended whinges of the regulars.

The Aussie equivalent of Red Lion pubs in Benidorm.

This Walkabout was great when it was owned by Aussies, since its been purchased by Regent Inns , its now become part of a national roll out of feral chav magnets. when here was only 3 walkabouts in the whole of the counrty there would never be any arguements over what to watch cause there would be 95% kiwis and aussies in the pub who were there to party and drink hard, not to watch 22 soft princesses on tv. I mean holland v france ??? go watch it in a french pub !!! ( oh , sorry , I forgot , they surrendered it to the germans wihout a fight.... anyway ranting on , pub is now crap. BRING BACK BUCK!

I've been to the Temple and Shepherd's Bush Walkabout now numerous times and enjoyed myself on each occasion. Plenty of sport on TV, plenty of beers at a reasonable price and a great atmosphere with friendly, attentive staff. The Covent Garden is the complete opposite! We also wanted to watch Euro but instead were stuck with 20/20 England v New Zealand. I could understand it if the crowd were watching both but I could only literally see 2 people watching the cricket with dozens trying to watch Euro. I love it how the angry girl behind the bar somehow didn't manage to capture the correlation between the '15 people asking for the manager' and them refusing to properly broadcast the soccer. But I guess that's a successful commercial strategy- ignore the wishes of 90% of the customers because the manager wants to watch the cricket.

I'm an Aussie and am dead set embarrassed to have any association with this place. They did have 2 for 1 Coronas that night but I don't care of they make it 3 to 1- I'm never going back!

The pub has a big screen and a great sound system but decided on a Friday night (with Euro 2008 in full swing) to show the England vs NZ 20/20 match when at least 80% of the pub were watching the Netherlands vs France game on small plasma screens around the pub (with no sound). When asking the bar staff to put the fotball on the big screen was told no because "the manager is watching the cricket". When asking for the manager the bar lady walked away in a huff and called the manager who told me that if I don't like it (the fact that the cricket is on) I should go somewhere else. To make it even better I was told that even when the cricket was fininshed he would still not put the football on (apparently live music would be starting which did not happen when the cricket finished). Last time I checked a manager of a Walkabout worked in the service industry but clearly this individual (who when I asked for his name refused to provide it...this was to use in a complaint to the Walkabout Head Office) feels he is above the simple concept of customer service. So if you want to watch Euro 2008 would warn you off Walkabout Covent Garden for the stroppy bar staff and idiot of a manager running the place.
