12 months since last review and I still think this is a good pub, the real ales are fine, although the guest beer does run out quite quickly so not available every night. Lunch food is good and the atmosphere is good, you do have to wait to be served though when it is busy. Randyray - 14 May 2009 14:52
This is a great local pub, with delicious pub grub at reasonable prices and it has a very good atmosphere. ejhu - 23 Feb 2009 10:45
The best friendly local pub with excellent staff, who look after you very well. They now have a very extensive food menu, available every day, which is delicious and at a very reasonable price - proper pub food! novupjan - 12 Feb 2009 18:30
excellent pub, with a great village atmosphere, lovely pub with low ceilings, exposed beams and a roraring open fire, - this place goes back to the doomsday book, - its a village pub as it should be. a good selection of beers, lager and ales including regually changing guest ales, all well kept with knowledgeable staff.... good pub food on offer... another reason to go and check it out... bricklayer - 9 Feb 2009 11:19
This pub is in my heritage. My great grandfather and grandmother ran it from 1900 to 1906 where my great greandmother died. I visited the pub last year and had Sunday lunch. Met up with Rachel who was brilliant and told me the history of the pub. The inside has not been changed very much but the low ceilings, oak beams, open fireplace I think gave the pub atmosphere. The lunch was lovely. Cant comment on the beer as I was driving and I had a coke. The downside to the pub is the huge LCD screens for mainly the football. They are too big and overshadow the rest of the pub and why they need 2 in such a small area is beyond me. Another sad thing is that there is no beer garden. Parking is non existant too. Otherwise worth a visit. nightowl51 - 25 May 2008 12:48
