I'm not really a fan of the Llyods bar chain so this place was on a loser for me from the start.
Alright for a bit but once those youngsters start coming out i'm running for the door!

5/10

Found the place to be very stuffy with little or no air con so opted to sit outside on the balcony and do some torbay chav spotting. They aint done a bad job of doing it up but it seemed to be lacking in atmosphere on the sat afternoon i visited, 7/10

Popped in for lunch on Saturday.

Quite pleasent but suffers from th chronic Weatherspoons problem of too few bar staff, to cope with the coffee machine. I do wonder if the profit on a "Skinny Latte" is worth the potential loss of the beer and food people.

However the barman, that eventually served me was good. And agreed that we don't see enough mild. I tried the Otter mild and it was very nice.

The food was a bit overcooked and bland. They could also do with a few stronger lamps. Had to fish out my flashlight to read the menu....

Now called The Green Ginger, this a typically large Wetherspoon’s split across two levels with a bar in each. The overall appearance reminds me of a hotel lobby rather than a pub, although the dance floor obviously looks out of place. During the afternoon it’s mostly populated with shopper’s, but morphs in to something quite different in the evening with loud music, flashing lights, bouncers on the door, and serving until 3:00am.

Beers on this occasion were Ruddle’s Best, Abbott Ale, Firefly, Ballot Box Beer, Stormstay and Bays Breaker. Ciders were Strongbow and the quite pleasant Marcle Hill.

Now Reopened as The Green Ginger, a Lloyds (JDW) pub. Watch this space!
