An excellent pub. I enjoyed a very fine dry cider which "hasn't got a name yet, it's made by someone up the road". It also has keg versions of Sams & Sandford Orchards ciders - not tried while the excellent 'nameless' was to be had. Muzac-free while I was there (but speakers fitted so may sometimes be noisy). Excellent unreconstructed pub decor. I got a warm welcome from the two resident spaniels. Burgers, curry & pies but no sign of vegi food. jgurney1 - 7 Aug 2011 15:54
I tend to agree with daveinbrum. A very nice pub but the BSA which we drank on our visit was definitely poor quality, considering that the pub is the 'brewery tap'. I suggest that anyone visiting should stick with what the majority of the regulars drink (AA), which will have a good turnover, and you'll be OK. Trequites - 29 Dec 2010 18:36
I love this pub, more importantly I love their real ales, all brewed on site. In my modest opinion, they brew the the best real ale in Totnes (and one of the best in the UK) and I have sampled UK ales from all over the country. I first found this pub using a Campain for Real Ale (CAMRA), good beer guide map. I have mainly visited when visiting my relatives but it is always one of my first points of call. I mainly visit during the day and like many of the local pubs, it is very quiet, with only a couple of locals in but the bar staff are always friendly and informative. The locals are welcoming and always ready to impart any local info that you require. I drank the AA (Albert ale) and (Relativity), very tasty real ale. In the evenings they have quiz nights and great food deals. I wish I could take the pub back home with me, it's a great local. gibbi - 15 Nov 2010 19:33
Was very quiet when I visited so can't really comment on locals but beer quality was poor considering it brews its own. daveinbrum - 20 Jun 2010 19:52
This pub is a real find if you enjoy proper boozers. The beers are always excellent , and brewed out the back!. The locals are a friendly bunch and will include you in the witty banter if you let 'em Food is ok but basic and the locals all seem to bring their own in on a Sunday evening and share it out. We were offered various local sausages , cheeses and olives during one visit ! We really don't want too many people to find it as it will get spoilt! steamraiser2 - 29 Dec 2009 13:21
