Situated just away from the high street, The White Hart is a mock Tudor pub serving a very local, but seemingly friendly enough crowd. Courage Best was the only noticeable ale, so opted for Stella. A large Mastiff patrolled the bar and amused the regulars. With a function room to the rear, this is quite a large pub and it seemed disappointingly empty on my visit this past Friday (Oct 26th). Either that, or the majority of clientele were gathered in the main front bar. There was background music, but failed to pick up on what it was – Abba or something probably. The White Heart isn’t a place to make a specific trip too, but in an area devoid of really decent pubs (and yes, despite what some might say, that included The Rising Sun) The White Hart okay and fit enough for the locals.

Enjoy this place. It is traditional, clean, Freehouse in the true sense. Friendly service.

The White Hart is a fairly large, spacious mock Tudor pub with a civilised feel to it. Lots of panelling and latticed windows and probably giving the impression that it is a lot older than is really is. Despite being divided into 3 separate areas separated by screens, including a function room at the rear, the décor is pretty much the same throughout. There are several TVs, pots, pans and pictures to grab the attention. Nothing too inspiring on the beer front – London Pride and Courage Best is hardly the most adventurous choice. Probably more popular with the mature drinker and certainly one of the better establishments in the area although nothing particularly outstanding.

Very cliquey pub always seems to be a gang of regulars hogging 2/3rds of bar frequently joined on fag breaks by staff.
Was in here one moderately busy Thursday - no staff behind bar with people waiting - bar maid sat on bar stool smoking. Customer asks if shes seving she says wait 5 mins shes on a fag break. at this point one of the gang of regulars walks round bar serves himself a few drinks hands smoking barmaid a fiver and they carry on their merry conversation. Slightly parched at this point (maybe waiting 3/4minutes)i counted 3 people in front of me so decided to walk up road to Crown (cheaper but full of old winos) as i left barman came up from cellar had been cahnging a barrell (Good time to take fag break???)
Probably best pub in Eltham but really is piss poor and this pub is very low in standard

'twas in this pub that I was weaned on Courage Director's back in the 80's; they knew how to clean the pipes in those days! Sadly things have gone downhill since then, (no Director's now), and there's been a change of management too, but this is still one of the better pubs in the area.
