We try and make this a regular stop if we're touring the pubs of Theale. It's a cosy place and there's usually a bit of lively, if not rather mad banter going on at the bar. Nick & Lynne are perfect hosts and the 3 cask ales are very well kept. I must try the Sunday lunches, everyone is raving about them !

Only been twice of late, but find it to be a fabulous little pub. Really friendly Landlord & Landlady (Nick & Lynne) - only recently there I think. Excellent beers especially the Tribute (for me), and i hear that the Sunday Lunches are terrific, looking forward to having one on another visit. We'll be back!

Previous landlord had a nice mix of beers in a cosy, living room atmosphere. Food was pretty hearty for the price charged. I quite liked it.

New landlord has revamped the place - it isn't a bad revamp, but I think I preferred it the way it was. 3-4 ales usually on now (Youngs Ordinary, Pride, Brakspear and Courage). Again, not bad, but uninspiring compared to previous. Ale is usually in decent nick, to give them their due.

There's a skittles alley available, although I dunno whether it sees much use.

Give it a go.

A decent boozer. Usually have a couple of good beers on including Marstons Pedigree and a guest or two. I think they were doing Deuchar's last time I was in.

They have music sometimes on a Friday or Sat, so can get very busy.

Recommended.

Since my last comment (1st Feb '05) the Red Lion now has new management and is a lovely place for a beer or two (3 or 4....)
On sundays they even put roast potatoes and sausages on the bar for customer nibbles.
