user reviews of the Lamb, Theale

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

Had a couple of games of darts here this Sunday. We found the landlord quite friendly. Football was being shown. There are currently no real ales sold here, and the heating was on full blast in May

A bit skanky in all honesty. The building looks quite imposing from the outside and the inside mirrors that impression. The place feels like it's from The Past, and not in a good way.

No ale, as mentioned below.

I wouldn't bother.

This is my least favourite pub in the village. The landlord can be quite rude, and the beer is poor. I can think of little good to say about it except that the beer is quite cheap and they have a big Sky screen if that's your thing. But I find it a little cliquey and unwelcoming.

Recently taken over, the pub is now busier than it used to be but is in danger of getting over-run by chavs and their screaming kids.

They've started doing food again but the menu is very basic (sausage, egg and chips etc). Often have live music at the weekends of varying quality. Also, they now have Sky Sports.

The new landlords seem to be making a real effort to bring in new customers but they are taking the place a bit down market. I used to happily walk the length of the village to enjoy one of their guest beers but they seem to have stopped doing the decent stuff, and are now knocking out draught Courage (yuk!). I tend to pass this one by now, and continue on to the Volunteer instead for a pint of Fullers.
