Well everybody this pub is now closed !! another one in Saltash the bigger they are the mightier they fall the last management diddnt have a clue !!!! useless!!! wen will people learn about puttig the (normal )customer first instead of the single mums with 6 month old babies and drinking pints of Stella and there so called fathers who have flippin base ball caps and shell suits on !!!!crap crap crap

Awfull ,!!! I called into this pub on friday night 26/02/10 was full of drugies chaves beer was awfull and gorilas on the door you are better off going down to the Uni.on and the Boatman where there are real people

We always find the Brunel very pleasant of a lunchtime,sometimes you have to wait to be served as they are making coffee, why don't they go to a coffee shop..
My personal opinion is that they should have a set area where you offer coffee and meals.
Having been a drinker in this establishment since I was a youngster it is still one of my favourites, owners come & go but the place stays the same.
I don't do evenings except for special occasions and now as an oldie never feel threatened at all in this place and the bar staff always make you feel welcome x

Once the Brunel was THE pub in Saltash. A great place to socialise and catch up with friends from work, early on a Friday evening, or for a beery lunch on a Saturday.

But not any more. Saltash people have voted with their feet and deserted the place in droves.

It`s easy to blame the credit crunch, but the problems here are much more fundamental.

Firstly, no one seems to be properly in charge.The result is un-trained staff, too young to spot when someone is waiting to be served. Too young to exert any control on the loud, foul-mouthed scrotes that now ruin the Brunel for everyone else.

There really is no escape from the language. The `family end` tends to be overrun by screaming, feral kids. The Brunel has evolved into a free baby-sitting service for pissed, pond-life parents.

The owners live away from the premises, so there is no one stamping their authority and personality on the place like an old fashioned licensee. No one to make the Brunel the centre of the community, the way it used to be.

It`s a shame. The Brunel is large, comfortable, nicely decorated and the food is good.

But something is going badly wrong here.

Saltash people are a gregarious lot. They like to go out. They like to mix and socialise and gossip in safe, pleasant surrounding, where people know them by their first names. Currently, there is nowhere in the town centre catering for this large potential base of customers.

By night, Fore Street is left to the chavs. The rest of us either stay in - or go to the Ploughboy or to the two superb pubs on the Waterside.

I really do wish the place well - and hope that the `pubco` that owns its freehold starts to get to grips with things. At least two pubs in the town have ceased trading in the past year.

The Brunel could be next... if it`s not careful.

i must agree with that commment but i am younger than the previous commmenter, as my complaint about this establishment is the staff too busy talking to friends than paying attention to customers and of course drinks...................to that i mean my favorite Guiness, i like a decent pint of it, but due to meeting some friends in there i had to order one or die of thirst...........first it was a miracle to get served, second when the pint arrived it was only a half really with the amount of head on it (Iknow people like alot of head on a guiness but this was just stupid) and third and finally when i asked the barmaid to top up my pint she looked at the pint from the other end of the bar. shouted thats ok then continued talking to her friends...................good customer relations eh!!!!!!!!

well know i can say me and friends will not be partaking in any more berverage consumption in this premises and partaking in refreshments else where........................Oh and another thing i thought the idea of PUB WATCH was to keep the undesirables out of the pubs for the customers and staffs safety then why, why, WHY????????????? where there people that are on that list in that premises???????????? if anyone knows the answer to that please message me back or leave a comment explaning why.

Thank you thats my ranting and raving done for a while now
