visited this pub on sunday, the first bank holiday weekend in may,had a lovely steak meal for less than a tenner, my wife and our friends enjoyed their meals too. was surprised footie wasn't on, but when we got there, there was a good family atmosphere and the staff were friendly. stayed there the rest of the evening where a very good four piece live band called 'alter ego' performed, which finished off a perfect evening.

Excellent turnaround of a basic pub to a very good one. Same management,I believe, as the Dukes Head in Tadworth. Good parking, food and friendly staff - and entertainment. Just shows what effort and ability can do.

The Woolpack has had a bad reputation in the past but since the current landlady has been there the woolpack has consolidated its position as the only decent pub in the banstead/chipstead area! It is a friendly local with very high quality drinks, though not cheap, as well as very edible pub grub.
The local drinkers and bar staff are friendly and the place has a good atmosphere. I wouldnt recommend it as a place to take children but is perfect for a bite to eat or a good drinking session.

I believe this pub had a "reputation" a few years back. No sign of that on my visit last night. What I found was a decent friendly local.

Neither an uber trendy wine bar, nor an old fashioned roaring-fire and snug-bar public house, it may be a bit bland for some tastes. A middle-of-the road, know what you're getting kind of place. The Bryan Adams of the pub world, if you like.

For a quiet Sunday-night pint or two, it's just what you need.
