This pub became a Marco Pierre White Wheelers Restaurant about a year or so ago. The service is excellent and the staff professional and friendly. The food is extremely good and you can chose between a supper of a fish pie and a pint or from a very good a la carte three course menu. It is a restaurant rather than a pint but it is a fabulous meal out.

Used to be a great pub for bar billiards, sadly none now. Probably gone downhill anyway with Jordan living near by.............

Went there for lunch a couple of weeks ago having never been there before. The staff were friendly and attentive, the beer was well kept and the food was excellent.

It was a bit expensive but probably worth the cost.

Well worth another visit.

We ( 2 adulds 2 children) stayed here for 2 days in may 2008, in room 5. As we were a part of a wedding party of approx 6 rooms we were given a discount. but i was told to stay here was £99 per night.

The hotel had a musty smell, it was very hot and this could of been damp of an old building drying.

The room was clean but needed a lick of paint, the bathroom was in need of renovation, with tile grout missing and the units showing thier age. The hallways were the same. Our room was so hot we had to open the windows and suffered from road traffic noise all night, so bad at 1 point my daughter ran screaming with fright to our bed as a lorry bounced across the mini-roundabout outside our window.

The restaurant was nice. The breakfast was small and the sausage was pink inside even though we waited 20 mins for it. The staff spent little time with us.

Outside the gardens were large and pretty but the sight of dog mess (owners kept a dog there) on the lawn from Thursday until Saturday was off putting.

Room 12 had no shower curtain And the shower did not work. The whole group talked about the rooms in 1 way or another and most had negative points. Most of all, that we all went home with bites that weekend, but as we travelled to another hotel for the wedding, we can not say for sure the bites were from this hotel...apart from the fact that no one from the other hotel has any bites.

OH and if you want a breakfast on the weekend, take extra money...breakfast is not include at weekends....strange.

When my cousin booked our room...a few months prior he told them about our 2 kids. We were on a budget that weekend so imagine our surprise when we were Charged an extra £40 for the 2 campbeds in the room.

So would i stay here again...

Would i recommend it....

If this hotel were in Blackpool you would get better for £18 a night.
