I used to use this pub when I was in the mob, haven't been to Pompey for years but intend to this year. Sorry to herar about Ruby, I always called the place Ruby's more ships' badges on the wall than any other pub I knew, good beer brilliant atmosphere. Does Lance the postman still use the place? the hours we used to spend putting the world to rights and doing the crossword was nobody's business

Great pub, great people on both sides of the bar! It's how other posters have described it - a pub! How pubs should be! Go there and lap it up!

This is a great pub which is what pubs are all about..no frills or gimmicks but good beer and friendly people.I to remember Ruby she was a real pub landlady. Love this pub long may it remain as Ruby left it

This pub will forever be' Ruby's' to me. First went in here in around 1990, when Ruby was still alive. The pub today doesn't seem to have changed at all. In fact there was a rumor that it was being run by her relatives. Still a great old pub serving good beer. Recommended.

This pub has always been rough and ready and all the better for that, a working mens pub and doesnt apologise for it. Having said that took my wife to the pub as it is very interesting inside with Navy memorabelia and they couldnt have been friendlier. It is a genuine step back in time and even since old Ruby (long standing former landlady) passed on it has been kept the same. Ifd you are in Portsmouth and want to experience a pub from the 50's give it a go I dont think you will be disappointed.
