I have always been wary of vast menus - better to do a few things really well I think. Having said that the food and beer is generally high quality and staff polite -although last couple of times quality had slipped ILBuono - 24 Oct 2008 15:58
Have just spent a very enjoyable evening at the Plough. The food is excellent with a mouthwatering choice for every course and each one was cooked to perfection and admirably presented. The staff were very very attentive and made us feel extremely welcome. The range of real ales looks impressive, although on this occasion I chose a good bottle of Chilean merlot that hit the spot. This pub is a real find and I have already booked to return next week s_lawrence_69 - 27 Mar 2008 20:53
I agree with the last 2 comments, and can utterly disagree with comments about freezer food - the Plough has never done this. The food is always fresh and locally produced (perhaps with the exception of the kids fish fingers!) and beer extremely well kept. anonymous - 3 May 2007 14:25
The Plough is excellent. Sure the service can be slow when it's busy, but the staff are always sympathetic and the surroundings and beer make a wait a very enjoyable antidote to today's pace of life. The menu is a little pricey, but the quality of food is excellent. The garden is a great place to end up after a walk in the locality. Younger children will enjoy the play area and most children will love the donkeys. Best to book in advance, particularly at weekends. WinchesterLocal - 23 Mar 2007 17:51
Really really surprised by the comments. The Plough has just won another accolade for their food, and they deserve it. The food is simply fabulous, a tadge expensive and yes the service can be slow when busy but that's because it is all freshly cooked on the premises. So why not relax, and enjoy a hour or two here. Ignore the comments about freezer, simply not true . .I am a regular plus my daughter once worked in the kitchens so I know! Locals will sit at the bar and in the summer you will see lots of people outside drinking, but if you are looking for a simply a drink then the only comment I do agree with is that most people do come here to eat rather than drink . .but it is a PUB, and I think a great one. mrandmrs - 9 Oct 2006 13:39
