Went there for lunch today - great food, friendly service, keen prices for Winchmore Hill, a roaring fire and buzzy atmosphere. They even have Scrabble and Monopoly board games. What's not to like? Usual Hill haunt is the Kings Head but we'll be swapping genders from now on and going to the Queen's instead. Wrexy - 9 Dec 2011 17:47
A great improvement, but why does the far left end of the bar always seem so cold and detached from the rest of the pub? This has bothered me for years, but now I've got it!! It needs a large mirror on the brightly striped wallpaper to connect both ends of the room - that's it - I've sold the problem really cheaply - c'mon Sue just £100 quid more and it will make all the difference!!!!! chalkywhite - 11 Sep 2010 16:37
wow what a transforamtion, i used to drink in this pub years ago - then stopped because it was so neglected. Everything has been redecoraded and it looks so much better. the staff are nice and the menu was good, i ate here (a burger) and i must say it was lovely! there was lots of people when i visited, the atmospher was buzzing !!! cant wait to come back! Well done the Queens (great comeback) !!!!!! till the next time zannorth - 30 Jun 2010 23:32
Now reopened again after another refit. Not a lot different that I can see, except that the place has been given a good lick of paint and is a lot smarter than previously. The lighting has been upgraded and it now appears a lot brighter, to the extent that with the clear glass frontage you get the feeling that you are living exhibits in an aquarium. One positive note is that there are now two ale hand pumps on the bar. Unfortunately on my first visit since it reopened, there was nothing coming out of them, and then yesterday one of them was dispensing London Pride. I suppose this is a step forward from the solitary infrequently functioning GK IPA pump of the previous incarnation, but hardly a great one. Gann - 27 Jun 2010 10:07
