| I went here recently on a Sunday and was very impressed by the changes that have been made. It is under new management and they have worked hard to improve the interior. It looks a lot lighter inside than on my last visit. The drinks are very cheap and so is the food. I had a huge plate of fish and chips for around a fiver and that is very reasonable for Richmond. The sofas are very comfy and the staff were friendly and made me welcome. The pool tables are very popular and the atmosphere overall was good. It probably appeals mostly to under 30's but there were some older folks there too so I was in good company. Well worth a visit! ilovemydog - 15 Apr 2011 21:13 |
| A fantastic little pub tucked away down Duke Street. I once used to frequent this place when it was a Scream pub, and it was popular with students as the booze was cheap and it had a jukebox. It was good mostly for those reasons, but still a bit grotty. However, since i've returned this year, the management has changed, and the improvement to the whole place has been astonishing! Not only are the prices still low, but the atmosphere is better, the service is great, and the place is a lot cleaner and more pleasant to be in since its redecoration. The staff are friendly and professional, although not afraid to have a laugh with you, and the 'pub grub' is suprisingly good as it is so cheap. A great place relax in when most of the other pubs have sports on, as The Lot does show most games, but not on the Sky channels, so the noisy sweaty footy oafs head elsewhere. There are two pool tables, a jukebox and some quiz machines to keep you entertained, and a load of comfy sofas. More of a lager pub than ale, but for the ridiculously low prices they charge, you can't really knock it! Still a predominantly late teens/twenties presence on Friday and Saturday nights, but still a good laugh and a great place to start your night out. Each time I have visited The Lot this year I have left with a spring in my step, a smile on my face and still enough change for the train home! I shall definately return. | Since they got rid of Sky Sports, which was the only reason most people came here, this place has become fairly quiet other than weekend nights. Cheap booze and food if you are a poor student, and they do all the nasty jellys, shots and alcopops that the kiddies like. They also have a couple of pool tables and a quizzer, although the tables are badly positioned in terms of elbow room, and they don't allow winner stays on. Friday and Saturday nights are strictly for the under 25s. Gets absolutely rammed and the staff are not the brightest buttons in the box, so getting served becomes a bit of a random scrum. Also another place with ridiculously aggressive bouncers - last time I tried to get in the guy demanded to see my age id (I'm nearly 40). I know that Sky is expensive, but this was one of the the few places round here that had Sky and allowed under 21s in, so probably not the smartest decision commercially to lose all that business. dingdangdo - 4 Mar 2011 08:47 |
| This pub has just been taken over by a new manager. It is definately on the up... a lot cleaner, a lot brighter and a lot friendlier. The beer and food selection is pretty basic but definately good value for money... especially around Richmond. Students can actually afford a decent night out. I would definately recommend a good, cheap night out at The Lot! Lunalily - 27 May 2010 17:00 |
| Probably best to leave this place to the youngsters. However if you find yourself in need of a cheap pint and burger during the week, stroll it to The Lot! TheoCC - 4 Mar 2010 21:35 |
