I disagree with dtaylor. I have been in this pub recently both before the new people and after. I think it is great what they are doing, whilst most pubs are shutting down or not doing anything to get new people, these are doing loads!

Obviously taylor didn't speak to the new people at all . . . .

Anyways, it is good, the music is good, most of the time, if a little too loud, and at least it is somewhere where I would take my other half now, without feeling like i'd been mugged whenever I went to the bar!

I can't wait for the races in here, it shall be fab and I am looking forward to sitting out the back in the new courtyard with its very own Guinness tent!

Keep up the good work!

Please ignore any previous comments as pub now under new management and completely refurbished.

Was a basic but friendly pub that I always used when I went into town.

Now under new management. Refurbished. Totally weird. Brown and beige paint, badly applied. Paintwork full of bits and scuddy; I am no DIY man but I would never be satisfied with the decoration. Strange big tables with no seats. Tacky and very very cheap and tacky. Very sad. Every Gold Cup this pub used to be full; next year they will simply walk out.

I've lived in Cheltenham for 28 years and have only recently started to frequent this pub during race meetings. I can honestly say this is the friendliest pub in Cheltenham and I really felt at home having the time of my life. The DJ is brilliant playing a mixed bag of music and the landlady/landlord were very friendly too. I would be happy to call this pub my local but make sure you get there early if you want a seat as it gets packed out especially when the race meetings are on.

My wife and another couple spent the most enjoyable weekend of our lives in Cheltenham mainly thanks to the great atmosphere in the Prince of Wales. The entertainment was excellent, we were made most welcome and the DJ, if you could call him that, played songs to humorous us and basically made the weekend for us. What a range of songs and music. From the Bar staff to the Landlord everyone was welcoming. It is an old type bar, good beer, great atmosphere and will definitely be back. Cant think of any other pub who could play Paul Robeson and chart music on the same night and still come out on top. Roll on race days till we can return and partake in what will for us be a rekindling of fond memories.

This is my local pub, full of 'characters' like me, drinking cider with bright red noses. So, if you want to be 'entertained' by drunken fools then pop in and buy me a beer.....NOW!
