Decent venue, but the service was beyond shocking - never going back again! scouttt - 27 Jun 2009 00:00
I agree that it's a shame the back bit got changed into a restaurant. I quite enjoyed seeing the shock (good shock!) on my friends' faces when I led them outside down the little pathway and BANG there was a huge garden! Last time I went (about 2 weeks ago) I had the sharing platter with my friend which was very tasty (although not huge) and then a burger, which I can almost guarantee wasn't grilled, as promised, more deep fried, and unfortunately so unbelievably hard at one end that I had to leave it. It was just purely overcooked. But my friend's beer was alright and my orange juice and lemonade very well received. The garden is this place's saving grace. Goggles123 - 3 Jun 2009 12:46
Well, the newly refurbed Leather Bottle.... bit of a mixed bag now really. The exit point to the garden is now via the door to the mens loo's and is utterly ridiculous - especially while trying to carry a tray of drinks and negotiate opening 2 doors without dropping anything,. I have to agree about the food. It's always been very hit & miss here (I've lived locally a long time and believe it's due to high staff turn over and no consistency in the kitchen) Prices have gone up and the quality / quantity just doen't reflect it. The "sharing boards" in particular are a complete joke and caused much hilarity watching two large South African lads trying to share barely enough for one person, probably the worst I've ever seen. Come on !! A few frozen mini spring rolls etc costs you bugger all and you expect to be able to actually want to share. Pub staples such as Fish & Chips, burgers etc are fine. It still seems fairly family friendly to me so I'm not sure about previous comments (yes, I frequently visit with friends and their children) but kids are expected to be behaved and not running around like the great unwashed screaming masses. There is a park behind the bottle for those who don't like this arrangement, but on any weekend day there are plenty of families enjoying the pub. All up it's still a great place, it just needs to take a step back a bit. kiwimafia - 23 Apr 2009 18:27
the food is shocking!! and really over priced. thats what really gets my goat. the food has never been great but was at least decently priced. there are loads of good places to eat on garratt lane/earlsfield - halfway house, county arms, amaranth, san pietro. all good, all good value. nickleuk - 16 Apr 2009 15:42
What a load of balls these last two postings are, the bottle looks amazing, i was so worried that it would be yuppified but its been tarted up a treat, its still a pub for sure but with a great area for dining. Its always done food so why not put it in proper settings and for those who think Earlsfield got to many places to eat your tastebuds obviously dont go further than double bubble and marmaris . Cant wait for the summer to see the garden back in full swing and lots of great rugby days paddypint - 11 Mar 2009 01:04
