Seemed good, a few beers on, not that bad an area - there would formerly have been several pubs around here e.g. the nearby Lamb, on the edges of the Metropolitan Cattle Market, but they have all gone I think and new pubs such as this (otherwise known as the Depot) have taken their place. I had two West Berkshire beers which were a bit too malty for my taste but others were available.

Excellent character pub in an old bus garage, handy for Arsenal FC and just 5 minutes from Caledonian Road tube. So good we visited it twice! Can't help but wonder how they manage to provide such delicious food, a good range of beers, and friendly service, yet remain so quiet. I guess they're a little off the beaten track, and must make most of their money from functions.

Awful, cavernous & soulless. Never anyone in there and it still takes 20 minutes to get served. Avoid...

I visited Shillibeers on a Wednesday night after work. I found the venue quite easy to find from Caledonian Road tube. It was fairly quiet night, a few other hipsters and it got busy a little later around 8pm. The bar is quite big with several different seating levels and room for functions I believe. The place is quite rustic looking lots of wood and open painted steal beams from the old industrial past of the building. We didn’t have trouble getting a table. Food was ordered at the bar. My friend and I shared the salmon pate and tempura prawn, which were both lovely. The main was chicken wrapped in bacon (all crispy!) with dauphinoise potatoes and broccoli. The food was really good, and actually surpassed the order at the bar style “pub grub” was expecting. Prices were reasonable and the staff friendly. One lady took the time to explain the history of the building when we asked. It felt like she was genuinely interested. I would recommend a visit, i think it would be a great way to spend a lazy Sunday with friends, beer and a roast dinner.

Was in the area for a nearby event, pub was busy (due to aforesaid nearby event). 4 real ales on, tried the Jack & The Dragon which was fine (I prefer a stronger more hoppy brew but then that's just personal preference). Service was reasonably swift. Will definitely go again if (in the very unlikely event) I am ever in the area again.
