Update on my previous visit – Thatchers Heritage £ 2.75 per pint – decided to visit the beer garden next to the delightful pavilion by the bowling green – unfortunately our visit was ruined at approximately 5.30 on Monday 26 April 2010 by a large group who started fighting, women screaming and crying – the incident got very unpleasant that my wife and I were investigating ways of leaving and left as soon as an escape route could be found KeithP - 2 May 2010 18:52
Excellent pub - Thatchers Heritage £ 2.52 a pint was great - open fires was really welcoming from the freezing weather outside. Coronatiom chicken crusty cobs and 'real' chips for £ 1.75 was very tasty. KeithP - 20 Dec 2009 13:47
Best Pub in Wolves, there isn't really anywhere else worth drinking. I'd prefer they had some more micro's on rather than Theakstons/Fullers but that's just my preference, the Landlord has always been spot on. The interior and garden are both great, nice place to be.... Klaude_Martner - 11 Jun 2009 16:04
From the outside, this looks really good. The pub has been repainted, great beer garden with flowers and old style lamposts. Sadly, inside the pub is in need of a spruce up, but the leather seats and tables are clean. The service was fine and friendly. Usual stuff, though no MILD at all, but I didnt walk out! i tried a few of the 7 real ales they had on; Deuchars IPA, Timothy Taylor Landlord (very nice), London Pride, Wye Valley HPA, Slater's Top Totty (not my cup of tea - get the Monkey Magic on!), Courage Directors and Best. It seems over the years to have gone downhill a bit, hope it can improve - a MILD would help. Archivist - 7 Jun 2009 11:41
I love this pub - coal fires in winter, a good range of usually well-presented ales. BUT I went in there yesterday - the glasses smelt of bleach and the fish and chips I had was frankly disgusting. I hope this was just an off day... Greywolf - 2 Dec 2008 08:44
