excellent cheap pint, can somebody tell that barman to smile, most miserable barman I have ever been served by vicgod47 - 7 Jul 2011 01:10
Its "Charlie in the Corner"'s funeral today. Charlie was seemingly a lifelong patron of this pub and part of the fabric of the place which helps makes this such a great pub. His memory will live on. Cheers Charlie David271059 - 1 Jun 2011 10:16
Traditional pub with a few separate drinking areas. There's plenty of wood on display, especially around the bar area. A grand wooden staircase is a nice feature. One side room has a dartboard. The upstairs pool table was apparently out of service. Pictures of old Altrincham can be seen around the walls. Drinks are cheap, with it being a Samuel Smiths pub. Old Brewery Bitter is the only cask ale. The clientele was mostly aging on my visit. But there were a couple of young groups. Local street parking is pay and display during the daytime, and spaces are hard to come by. Certainly one of the two nicest pub interiors I came across during my Greater Manchester visit. blue_scrumpy - 5 Jul 2010 20:16
Cheap drinks and a friendly atmosphere. There are two pool tables upstairs (70p a game), but they're not in the best condition - only two cues for both tables last time I went, and one of those had a loose tip. A jukebox wouldn't go amiss! djm256 - 18 Apr 2010 19:41
really good sam smiths boozer with a very good mix of punters! everyone gets on a has a good wind up with ages litterally ranging from 16+ to 90+! i agree that music of some sort would go down a treat, but then again when its busy you really dont realise theres nothing on, well worth a pint or two on a night out! old_timer_90 - 4 Nov 2009 14:27
