I consider the Fox & Hounds to be my local - it's a bit quiet sometimes (since it's a bit of a walk from Theale, and most people will drive there). Since it was done up and under new a new landlord, it's become more of a gastro-pub with a decent range of nice food - I've been there for lunch and dinner maybe a dozen times and it's always been decent. The beer is usually good, though the range is limited to Wadworth only. All in, a good pub for a spot of unpretentious, reasonably priced grub and a pint or two. ewand - 17 Jan 2010 20:53
A comfortable pub in nice surroundings serving the full range of Wadworths beers. However, food not very good, small portions and a bit pricy. No real pub atmoshpere just plenty of elderly folk enjoying grandma's birthday. Innofensive , but I won't be rushing back. arferjob - 28 Jun 2009 20:50
We went to this pub for sunday dinner a few weeks ago. Not too much choice available. £10.95 for sunday road (beef) is a rip off - one slice of beef (albeit a thicker slice than normal) and three roast potatoes, with a whole heap of veg. The price needs to be lowered. The started was nice though - chicken and leek soup. Probably won't go going back in a hurry. Bionicmum - 21 Jun 2009 09:22
Not too impressed by this pub. It looks like it used to be a really nice pub if the exterior is anything to go by. Unfortunately the interior has been modernised and the place seems to cater mainly for diners, except on the evening we visited - apparrently there is no food on a Sunday evening. There were 5 beers from the Wadworth range - Bishops Tipple, Henry's IPA, Maypole Mild, JCB and 6X. My eyes lit up when I saw the Westons Traditional Scrumpy. But alas there was none available. Stowford Press was a poor substitute. This doesn't feel like a real pub - more an upmarket wine bar/gastro pub. blue_scrumpy - 19 May 2009 18:10
We're a bit miffed with this pub at the moment. A few weeks ago there was a sign outside saying 20% off food. We went in and ate only to be told when we paid the bill that the meals we had had did not qualify for the offer. Two unhappy bunnies now drinking elsewhere. miceman - 1 Apr 2009 21:45
