has been operating as a "freehouse" ? been in a few times over the past six months though to be honest although the ales well kept there isn't not much choice - a permanent Greene King beer plus a guest which more often than not is just another approved GK beer - don't feel like rushing back anytime soon.

The bear is a bit of a hidden gem right on the high street, laid back locals, decent pool table... not as many ales on tap but fairly well kept

Always liked the Bear, nice beer laid back atmosphere and its consistent. If you fancy a decent drink with good company out of the usual rat run - this is the place

Have to agree with previous rater, service was very good and the punters seemed very laid back.

Interesting pub with a pool table at the front entrance and a long narrow bar beyond which can also be reached via a side entrance. Friendly laid back sort of place where you're likely to be engaged in conversation by your fellow drinkers. Greene King beers, IPA and Olde Trip.
