Stopped here for lunch today with my wife. The pub interior is nice and dark, with an old fashioned feel. The drinks were good as was the food. Prices not too bad either. Staff very friendly and attentive. Garden courtyard to sit in as well, with heaters for those colder evenings. All in all, we really enjoyed our visit and will call again. sotondoton - 19 Aug 2011 17:28
Took the inlaws here on Sat lunchtime and one word describes the place - outstanding!! Such a difference from my previous reported visit and the Ale was excellent this time. Had Ossett Pale Gold which was hoppy and very drinkable along with a half of Seafarer. The food as always was first class and would recommend this friendly place that feels like a village local to anyone who asks. A triumph to Sarah and her lovely staff. dotball - 16 Aug 2010 10:34
Had a pit of HSB at lunch time, and All Good!! Very nice indeed. The pub has 'Bass' written all over it, right down to the 'Toby jugs' in the back fitting!! Most of the interior signage is ex Bass as well!! As for the interior, it was clean and tidy, yet slightly 'clinical'. I wouldn't use it as a local. Seems totally geared for food. But it still gets a 5/10 from me. wolvesfan - 1 Aug 2010 19:04
Ate here with my Wife and had an enjoyable meal Saturday lunchtime. I had a steak and red wine pie from the Specials Board and Andrea had the Old House fishcake in Hollandaise sauce. Both lovely meals but the Ales I had were predominantly too cold. Fullers Hock Mild was fine but Seafarer and HSB were not served at room temp. Love the place but Fullers should look at certain policies regarding their Ales. dotball - 23 May 2010 09:18
I had originally booked our walking group into the Olive Tree, my selection was based on BITE reviews. Unfortunately when we arrived there was only one real ale on offer & though the staff were really pleasant the place did not really suit our taste. So it was off to find something with a little more olde world character & we came to the Old House at Home. This was more like it. And I can say it is not full of old foggies & there was a blend of all ages eating & drinking. So if you like good beer 'really well served' & excellent food, 'well above pub grub standard' & yes it may be slightly above other establishments in price, but then you get what you pay for. Not a single complaint from our bunch, just a request to return in the future. My rating an 8.5 John.T - 20 Feb 2010 19:43
