| Hi Thomas76 - I did speak to her and she followed it up with more insults. I gotta say I have never complained about a pub before. I was accused of being drunk (I had 2 drinks) purely because I objected to being spoken to with such disrespect. Was pretty mad at the time but I try and treat people with respect and hope for the same. Harpio - 7 Sep 2010 17:45 |
| I attend the anchor inn for the ringmer folk and blues night and i find it really hard to believe what : Harpio - 19 Jul 2010 09:52 has said about the landlady, yes she is upfront, but she is a honest and a very caring landlady and cant do enough to help people who visit the pub. I think personally if you do have any gripes with the landlady then why dont u talk to her about them? its very easy when its faceless to name and shame someone! I would only say good things about this pub and would recommend anyone to enjoy their lovely food, good harveys and friendly staff. thomas76 - 15 Aug 2010 19:03 |
| Attended Ringmer Folk and Blues last night, where I have attended and performed regularly. This is a great folk club, but the landlady seems to barely tolerate it. I remember when you would go into the Anchor on a Sunday night and enjoy the pleasure of up to four other customers. With the introduction of Ringmer Folk and Blues, I have seen over 50 people enjoying the music and buying drinks, despite Mel's lack of charisma and rudeness. I for one will never enter the pub again until it realises it's potential and becomes the village pub it should be, rather than the tacky pseudo sports bar that it has become. This is purely my own experience and I do not intend to make waves for Ringmer Folk and Blues in any way. I join the increasing numbers of other good customers that she has upset. | I was disappointed as I was a visitor to this part of the world and was looking forward to an evening in a typical country village pub. Lovely setting but the staff are very off hand and downright rude at times, and very "cliquey" with their own favourite regulars. The food is very mediocre, we waited ages then had to send it back because it was cold. zebra27 - 16 Sep 2009 09:55 |
| Considering that this is to all intents and purposes the Village local, it manages to escape that kind of image. It's got it all, good beer, good food, comfy sofas etc. but it also manages to have a kind of cool laid back kind of ambiance which you rarely get in village pubs. Landlord and staff are also cool and laid back but friendly and efficient at the same time. crispyduck - 21 Jul 2009 14:52 |
