I have recently been spending a lot more time in this pub than I used to. It was taken over late last year and has vastly improved. Being an ale drinker I am pleased to say that the beer is much tastier and there is a lot more choice of guest ales that seem to change more often. The entertainment is more regular with bands playing live on Saturday nights. Last Saturday my wife and I went early to eat before watching the band, food was homecooked and good quality. No complaints. Would suggest those who haven't enjoyed this pub in the past should give it another go.

An interesting mixed bag of reviews - so I decided to go and spend a couple of hours last Saturday night - the pub is clean , no doubt about it - have to say the Ale was nearly undrinkable (again) so followed up with a few pints of Guiness which was OK . The service was a bit hit and miss and the pub had absolutely no atmosphere at all , which wasnt suprising due to only a small number of people present . On the up side , we stayed as we got a table and could chat (after being in The Station down the road , which had been absolutely rammed ). I think it would definately improve with a decent well kept guest ale or 2 - but that is just an opinion.

Always something going on here. whether it's a fight or karaoke, entertainment is always garanteed! Great choice of ales and always get served within two minutes of getting to the bar, wohoo!

Not a patch on the 'old' Tuns - the character and charm has been totally lost with the refurb and the plasma screens are an unwelcome addition. The beer is average (although that's largely due to it being a Thwaites pub). OK for one or two but that's it.

The Three Tuns is now the only Thwaites pub in Sutton Coldfield since The Cup was passed on to other hands. I think I'm correct in saying that its Suttons oldest pub and was used by Shakespeare when it was a half way house, but dont hold me to that. Its quite an unusual building, it basically looks like two halfs of oposite buildings with a roofed ally way in the middle joining the two. The beer here is pretty much all Thwaites own stuff but that aint a bad thing, they often have Wainwrights and Lancaster Bomber two great beers. As mentioned it is abit pricey but thats not the point, the point is that you can come in here and not feel like some tracksuit wearing crack head is about to jump you if so much as blink at him the wrong way. This has become a regular watering hole for me.
