Nice location on the banks of the Grand Union Canal in some quite lush countryside. Had a yapping dog there when I visited. Greshon - 28 Nov 2007 23:35
Have become regular visitors to this place. It is a great place to eat. Food is very good. Service is superb. Prices are reasonable. Certainly good value for money. Is our 1st choice venue for a meal locally. Suggest you give it a try ! frogkebab - 19 Nov 2006 21:04
The Malt Shovel was a Harvester a few years back but now serves food from its own menu. Quality and choice are generally good, and in my opinion whilst not quite deserving of a 'Gastropub' accolade, it is getting close. There is an outdoor seating area on wooden decking overlooking the lock on the Grand Union canal, and a grassy outdoor fenced seating area that doesn't. Fuller's London Pride and Greene King IPA are the usual real ales. London_OBs - 2 Jul 2006 21:02
Please dont ever describe this place as a Gastro-pub. Just because it serves decent food - it doesnt rank it in the eschelons of gastro-pub. This is a food chain within a pub. The food is good and its in a nice spot, especially in the summer. Its great for a lunch out. The beer and wine is ok too. - Nothing offensive about this place in the slightest, as long as you accept it for what it is - Its not a boozer and it doesnt served gastro food! - Just decent tucker Bungie - 12 Feb 2006 10:13
Terrific choice of food - a top class gastro-pub. Really nice in the Summer to sit by the canal. Shairead - 6 Jun 2005 17:26
