Great place with a superb range of real ales. Called in on a pub crawl, but could have happily spent the whole night in here. rob1981 - 12 Jan 2011 00:06
A good welcome and pint of beer in a very pleasant pub. Enjoyed the Crouch Vale offerings and would include this pub as being one of the best in Chelmsford. smurfy33 - 20 Jun 2010 07:12
The best pub in Chelmsford? I'm not sure about that. I wouldn't like to try sliding a fag paper between this and the neighbouring Orange Tree in terms of quality. It is a good pub but I think Roger Protz (I believe it was he who put it in the ST's 25 best list) might have been suffering from an excess of exuberance, if not real ale, when he gave such praise. stropmag - 3 May 2010 10:59
The Queen's head has definteley overcome the passing of the previous legendary Landlord. Still has 7/8 beers on offer. Although now at least 4 always from the Crouch Vale brewery. Beer in excellent condition, and Essex boys bitter only £2.36 a pint. Great value. Pleasant clean interior, and pleasant .customers Great real fire in the winter. Still deserves a visit on any trip to Chelmsford. Is this Chelmsford's premier Public House ? Polypinmath - 15 Mar 2010 09:00 |
I used to live almost opposite the Queens,i used the pub on occasions and enjoyed the fact their was good beer and no music.I must say that since Dave took over as landlord the pub is a lot cleaner .i now use the pub more regularly than i did when i lived opposite ,there is allways a very nice atmosphere the beer is very good the food is very reasonable and there is always some one to have a chat with.Dave and his staff are all friendly and if you like banter Dave's your man.If you like pub snacks with your pint expect to make friends with the pub dog (cheeky) . teksaw - 3 Dec 2009 19:46
