user reviews of the Junction, Clapham Junction

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

I haven't been here since it was called the Windsor Castle. I was thoroughly expecting to walk in and back out again after having seen the drinks range. But it was tempting enough to stay. It's a Taylor Walker pub a short distance from Clapham Junction railway station. It was reasonably busy yesterday evening. Bar staff were serving people out of order, which is always annoying. I nearly dropped on the floor when told the price for a half was £2.75!! Inflation is clearly rampant here. Ales were Greene King IPA, Plain Innspiration & Sheep Dip & Taylor Walker 1730 Special Pale Ale. There were 2 ciders from Lilleys - Mango and Apples & Pears. Not a place I'd return to with these prices.

A bit pricey. But nice pub.

Staff are good.

Pleasant enough Taylor Walker corporatised pub close to station but rip-off prices. £4.30 for a pint of 'their' Westerham brewery brewed 1730 Pale Ale. A decent enough session pint but I'd say worth about £3.60. No idea why Clapham pubs are so expensive. See also The Falcon.

This used to be the Windsor Castle but has recently been done up and renamed.
The building is pleasant and spacious, but doesn't seem to care much about the ales. There was no dark ale on offer, and the bar staff suggested IPA - not! Perhaps it would help if they knew about beer? The Falcon and the JDW (Asparagus) are not far away - those who care what they drink might choose these instead.
It doesn't help that food is expensive - £12.65 for fish and chips in a pub, no matter how good, and even if it DOES have pickled onions with it, seems OTT.
