Large pub, one of very few in the town, public and saloon bar with large restaurant area. Ostensibly 6 beers, but on this Wednesday evening, 2 were not on - Wherry line being cleaned, the other just blank. GK IPA 😟 GK Old Speckled Hen 😏 And two from Moon Gazer - Nibbler, ruby and Pintail pale and citrus. Seemed well kept.

They refused to fill my take out 4 pint flagon. The reason; some vague rubbish about health and safety.

From the outside I reckoned this pub was not going to be great, but stepping inside I quickly changed my mind. Several ales and ciders on offer. i cannot remember what I had, but I filled my four pint take out flagon with what turned out to be fine ale. I reckon I am pretty good at judging a pub from the outside, but I admit to being wrong in this case. 7/10

Deservedly popular both for its wide range of quality ales (over a dozen or so) and also for the good value meals served. Well worth a visit in my opinion.

Traditional town pub layout with a rear restaurant extension. Two distinct drinking areas at the front - to the right, an open plan bar and to the left, more of a multi-roomed snug. Decor is modern and comfortable, staff are efficient and punters are of a broad mix. A large number of ales are available, many of them local (eg Wolf), but a few from the handpumps were served rather too cold. However, the Adnams Southwold was well kept and an appropriate temperature. The Harry Sparrow cider from Aspalls was also admired by my companion.
