Popped in here a couple of weeks ago. I've been coming in, off and on, for many many years and it rarely changes which is excellent in my opinion. Managed to get a perch by the window and had a super pint of Harvey's Best. A load of other ales on that I fancied but sadly was rushed for time.

Its a bit pricey - all the pubs nearby are but I recommend it - good atmosphere, good building, efficient service and good beer!

I like this pub - it has good service, good beer, a bit of a rambling layout (like the Jam Pot across the river) and its in a nice spot in the midst of the Market.

Popped in last week with an old friend - it was summer week in April but it was early-ish afternoon and early in the week so not too busy. My mate had London Pride which looked good and he said was good. I went for the the Mayflower Session Ale - was very tasty indeed and (thankfully) didn't look or taste how it is described on the WWW. Its brewed quite locally and well worth having a few.

The pub isn't cheap though - part of being in the Market where all the outlets milk the punters - four quid for a sausage roll in the Ginger Pig butchers opposite being a good example.

So its a good solid pub, I like it - 7!

Great pub this, but as others have noted its pricey. As are the four quid sausage rolls across the way at the Ginger Pig butchers (four quid!!)

Anyway, most recent visit was a week or so ago - I like going here early in the week and mid-afternoon when its not too packed. Good beer and good service (no short measures and staff have a good idea on who is next to be served). My mate had Pride - a good tasting pint he said. I had the locally brewed Mayflower Session IPA which was excellent and it didn't look anything like their website suggests it might - which was good. A very refreshing beer and at 4.2% not too silly.

Despite the prices, this pub is a 7 for me.

A Saturday evening visit in November to the Market Porter and the pub was typically packed with standing room only. The ale range was good as usual - Harvey's Sussex Best Bitter, Plain Ales Intrigue, Market Porter Cornish IPA, Acorn Harvester, Bowman Wallops Wood, Wychwood Hobgoblin, Loddon Bamboozle, Sonnet 43 Abolition & Elland Blonde. Ciders were Weston's Traditional Scrumpy & Old Rosie & Snails Bank Pineapple and Pink Grapefruit. The best option in the area.

Visited on a Saturday afternoon and although it was busy they seemed to have plenty of staff on. Good selection of ales on - including a couple from Harveys, lovely stuff. You need to ask for a plastic glass if you want to take your drink outside - which is a pity but not the end of the world. Very mixed clientele, nice place.
