Went there last night. Friendly staff, the rest was dire.
People so drunk that when one fell over she genuinely struggled to make it back onto all fours let alone stand up.
She slipped on all the booze she and her boyfriend had spilled from their glasses that had not splashed over everybody else, whilst dancing/staggering so close to the band they frequently bumped the mic stands and no one could see past them. And it went on for a couple of hours!
Complaining about the broken glass on the floor caused by them dropping the glasses on more than one occasion resulted in it being mopped up but nothing was done. Somewhat surprised that the female wasn't' covered in glass cuts.
The band lost their smiles, who could blame them, but continued remaining professional.

In short, if You are totally smashed beyond any reasonable bodily control, but want somewhere to carry on drinking, this is the place. Someone told me it's illegal to serve alcohol to intoxicated people. I guess within reason it's not really bad but when you can't lift yourself off the floor one might expect someone working the to suggest it's time to go home.

I wouldn't leave my dog in here. Its a holding pen for the Jeremy Kyle show.

well where do i start? most people in there can barely read or write, (apart from dss forms obviously), and is probably the worst pub in colchester. full of skin heads, jobless, single mothers, crack heads, crims,.......you get the picture. if you fancy a good punch up, or stabbing, this is the place! still, the more low lifes in here the less there are in other pubs........

Went in here last year to meet up with a friend I hadn't seen for ages. As all three of us had really short haircuts people kept assuming we were skinheads and were about to kick off any second when we were basically minding our own business, it was quite funny! the atmosphere was pretty lively though, good to see a pub in Colchester town that hasn't either turned into a dodgy wine bar or closed.
