| Have to laugh, the chap that mentioned the part of the sink that was stolen made me crack up. I was there the night it got done, some tit punched a hole in it and decided it was smart to take the piece away with him ;x On another note, the smoke alarm was also fucked up by somebody, the air vent machine almost torn out of the wall (later removed due to health and safety reasons) Both hand soap dispensers ripped out, and last but not least, the huge toilet roll holder also ripped clean off the wall. I LOVE THE ALEX! <3 HaggisBoy - 5 Nov 2007 16:14 |
| This pub has changed loads in the last couple of years. Don't know what the manager has done but he's got rid of all the sad old punks that used to go there. The place has a really good atmsphere now. The staff are friendly too. The garden used to be a shithole but they've really tidied it up, and what's ahppened upstairs!? It was packed last time I went, and the music was really good. Glad to see they've got rid of that old DJ (the one with long hair that looked like a weasel and wouldn't play requests). I heard they do a gay night upstairs on Thursdays. Is this true??? There's still a few wobbly bits of furniture and it's definately a students' pub (some of the haircuts you see in there are horrendous), but if you want a quiet drink somewhere where you're not going to get any aggro, then I'd really recommend this place. And they've sorted the pool tables out too. Much better. The only bad thing I could say is that on busy nights it often takes a while to get served. The barmaids looked like they knew what they were doing, it just doesn't seem like they've got enough staff sometimes? Malkolm - 15 Apr 2007 21:31 |
| This is one of those places that people might stop going to after a while, but you'll always go back. Not bad deals on pitchers if thats your kind thing, with a "Yellow Card" you can also get a few deals, plus it's pound a pint on tuesdays. Though you'll have to get there for a about 7 to secure a place inside as it gets rather packed on pound a pint night as you'd expect. Few arcade games, outside garden with TV in the summer, 3 pool tables and a cash machine amongst other things. HaggisBoy - 19 Mar 2007 12:03 |

| I agree, pool tables are all over the place. The back wall needs to be moved a couple of feet to be able to take a proper shot on the large pool table and you have to sit on the other one to play from the opposite side. Good overall atmosphere though, cheap and, apart from tuesdays, the crowds normally good. They've also introduced a no smoking part of the pub, which would be ideal but please remember that not everyone who likes to play pool wants to go home smelling like an ash tray!!
