| This was much better than I was expecting. The pub is pure Shoreditch inside, everything is a bit grey with lots of exposed concrete and brickwork with 1980's secondary school tables and chairs (not as bad as it sounds!). There is a cellar bar(?) but that was roped off. Good news and bad news about the beer. There is a great selection of keg, bottle and cask, but as with everything in this part of London it is too expensive. There is a good drinks menu, whilst on draught there were 3 craft keg black I.P.A.'s, 4 ales and maybe 5 other guests plus bottles from here and Europe. Hophead was the session beer at £3.60, but then it all goes up to £4-£8 a pint. Not a great suprise, but until I start earning loads more or drink on expenses it's a ball-ache. All the beer that we tried was excellant and the mega-hipster staff were very nice. Lots of natural light from the glass frontage, which also gives you a great view of yet more grey millionaire's flats. Worth a visit. Green_0nions - 28 Mar 2012 14:08 |
| This is a beer lover's paradise. I enjoyed two very well kept real ales from a couple of smaller breweries and there were lots of other beers from various parts of the globe on offer as well. I didn't try the food, but the menu looked good. Very close to Shoreditch High Street station and well worth a visit. hitchinsampler - 2 Dec 2011 23:16 |
| Fine pub at the top end of Brick Lane. Extensive bar upstairs with more of a restaurant feel, then a smaller bar downstairs with comfy sofas. Beers to suit all tastes - couple from Brodies on tap, the house beer from Dark Star and a special too from the same brewery, plus others and many bottled choices. I'm of the opinion that Shoreditch is a hellhole full of people with stupid haircuts and too-tight trousers that should be avoided at all costs but this place makes me revise my opinion. | Amazing, I live near by and this is my first visit, def come back v soon. Great beer and cider selection, friendly atmosphere and good food. AlieStreetcrusader - 29 Jul 2011 23:17 |
| Boggart I Am Beer, Bowman Warbler, Hophead and Brodies Hackney Red on gravity on the bar. Foreign beer at astronomic prices. Attentive staff dressed in wacky clothes who serve drinks to your table and hit you with a 10% charge. A sort of Cask lite. GuideDogSaint - 5 Jul 2011 16:04 |
