Not really a pub, well not what I'd call a pub, but I was led here by my youngest son, who knows buggerall about proper beer anyway. First black was the solitary barmaid was outside smoking as we arrived. No real beer, but there was the usual fizz plus Guinness, so I started looking for a decent single malt. Not one to be seen. I then noticed Tanqueray's Gin, so attempted to ascertain what kind of tonic was stocked. Sadly, just the hose job, or a slimline bottle, which is in my opinion, poison, so I told the lass how to do a pink gin, and asked for a spring water to water it a bit. I wasn't prepared to pay THAT much, so I had to have a drop of hosed water. There was a group of three sitting near the door eating pizzas they had either brought in or had delivered. My daughter-in-law went to the local chippy and brought back some chips, which she proceeded to scoff, but others weren't hungry. Frankly, if this place did food, it would probably be squid with olives in foie gras and prawn cracker melee, to suit the type of beer they dispense. Dreadful place, and I should have insisted on a real pub, I suppose, but even at my advanced age, I'm prepared to try anything once. That was it for me. 9/10 for the staff of one, but way down for everything else. The_Final_Arbiter - 16 Jul 2010 15:33
Not bad, now has a 'beer garden' bolted on a little bit further along which is open in more clement weather. Keep 'em peeled for the landlord - very strange character... DavidWaspnest - 13 Apr 2010 16:53

I have a distinct memory of walking past this place about a year ago and thinking it looked like a rough-house, but by the below reviews it doesn't look like it has changed management in that time. Popping in this week, I thought it pretty average. It's a fairly compact little one-room bar but with a function room upstairs. It has a fairly stripped-back look and appears to attract a younger crowd. No real ale at all, which surprised me as it's the kind of place you'd expect to see at least an ale, I thought. Don't think I would return. grecian - 1 May 2009 14:43
Sorry for the delayed response but it took me a while to come up an appropriate rating for the Walrus. Starting on a strong note props go to the host for reserving a table and a mention must go out to the amazing wedges. There was an ok selection of beer, but unfortunately no ales for the classier gents amongst us. Still, beer is beer, wherever you go. The interior was fairly industrial, however we thought the jug placed under the urinal added charm. Thrifty, yet very effective! The noise of the train going past overhead also added to the ambiance. The music choice was enough to get most of the young professionals of London queuing, UB40, Whitney Houston and George Michael to name but a few. Overall, the Walrus was a tad disappointing. Bazz don't worry mate next pub will have ramps and an easily accessible toilet.. FTB2 - 6 Mar 2009 18:43
