Went in on the 5th July for food and a couple of beers, but they were closing at 8.30 shame as they had a good selection of beer on

again just Yates & Ringwood, a very odd pub, part pub, part restaurant, part bierkeller, doesn't quite hang together, very quiet compared to the spyglass, staff don't seem to want to speak to you!

Having been the one to instigate this pub onto BITE last year we were a little disappointed with the latest visit. Only 2 of the 4 handpumps were being used and only one of these was an Island brewery (Yates), the other being Ringwood. The Yates was well below good condition and as we were going to eat along with another beer we relunctantly moved on to another pub. Hopefully we were just unlucky butt the pub was VERY quiet compared to others on the esplanade. Although we are occasional visitors these days we have been going since it was a Burts pub with ripped seats et al so we do hope things improve again.

Always worth a visit for locally-brewed ales and the splendid glass handpump case with Burts Ales still written on it. Was quite friendly on our last visit and we nearly decided to eat but had another beer and a take-away instead.
