Popped in for a beer while waiting for the bus back to ilfracome.
Nice enough place thought it felt quite cosy. Beer was ok too.

Didn't eat in this place, but drank there a few times while on holiday in Combe Martin. Only drank here because the Dolphin was closed half the time and the Focsle Inn was too dire to spend holiday time in.
The beer in the Marine is fine. Thats about it. One afternoon I walked in here and there was loud heavy metal being played on the jukebox. Now I like my Deep Purple and Led Zeppelin, but there is a time and a place, this was not one of them. Just like the Focsle Inn over the road, should be a good pub with this location.....it's not.

Comfy and friendly pub. Very busy so must be doing something right! Cotliegh Barn Owl and Doom Bar. Very nice too. Didn't eat here but the meals arriving on the tables looked good.

Oh dear, this pub was recommended in the cottage we were staying in and by BITE but our experience was something very different. Relegated to the side door access because we had a dog we had difficulty getting in because the parked cars prevented easy pedestrian access and the locals standing around the door smoking did not even stand aside when we tried to get in. As the pub is a single bar not sure why we had to use the side entrance as dogs were dotted around the bar. Service was slow and sadly the beer was undrinkable. Cotleigh Barn Owl had bits of sediment in it reminiscent of pipes not being cleaned regularly. The beer tasted stale, not vinegary but just plain nasty. Having sampled Cotleigh beer many times this was a very poor example. We did not stay and eat.

Really warm welcome in this pub/restaurant. We went back for a second evening because we thought it was the best of the three pubs just by the seafront. It is obviously well used by locals, which must be a good sign. There is plenty of room in the bar if you just want a drink and good quality pub fare if you want to eat. Two local real ales, both very tasty. There was an Italian specials night on one night which was very good value. Food didn't come instantly but that's not surprising because it seemed to be freshly cooked.
