I visited The Open Arms for the first time since it had been re-opened. i was very pleasantly surprised. as soon as i entered i was greeted by very friendly staff. i was asked by the young lady what type of drink i was wishing to have i didnt know whether to have a glass of larger. the young lady went through al the types of largers they had including pricing explaining about happy hour and % of some of the largers .the selection was remarkable as was the amount of different real ales there was and the young lady didn't have a problem with her knowledge of those either. behind the bar there were shelves that went from one end of the bar to the other full of different types of whiskeys, rums, brandys, vodkas and gins.it was remarkable. they also serve food so i had a sizzler(mixed grill)which came out steaming and huge. the food was gorgeous you just couldnt fault it. i will be calling in again. neverwrong - 2 Apr 2012 03:21

Thank God someone in the world is bringing back the good old traditional values in our community pubs: nice people, good staff and above all excellent beer. Enterprise, Punch, they should bring back hanging for the likes of you! Local Independent Operators buying beer from Local Breweries! That's what we should be supporting and enjoying! Lovely addition to the revival of our Great British Pubs! shudnobetter - 4 Jan 2012 01:09
paid 1st visit mon t`time,(pub reopened sun).they have done a nice job inside with a new wooden floor, lots of old pics of the area to browse around.real ales on,trappers hat, wainwright,l`pool org` casade and a phoenix beer,£2.70 a pint(£2.20 happy hour 4.30-6.30pm)guiness a bit pricey at £3.10 and i suppose the lager will be as i think the management are aiming at the older market and the success of this pub will depend on them keeping out the problem familys in the area who have blighted this pub for the last 10yrs.well worth a visit and with the effort that s gone into this venture it deserves some footfall from the real ale suppers. damocles11 - 22 Nov 2011 10:27
