Above average pub with decent beer and tolerable pub-grub. Our visit was enjoyable in spite of the supercilious attitude and rudeness of the young barman. miceman - 14 Jan 2012 21:46
They've done it up a bit so I went back. Nice pub, Ringwood bitter is okay; nice fire, unimaginative, substantial, reheat food served by substantial young people. As we left at 1:50pm on a wet Sunday, four hungry walkers arrived off the Ridgeway to be told the kitchen was closed. They hadn't missed much. Innkeeping needs innkeepers (try the excellently-run John Barleycorn across the causeway in Goring). Ridgeway.Rambler - 1 Nov 2010 05:55
No, I think the cook and the cellarman must have both quit, or maybe they've run off together. It could be a cracking pub and a goldmine but right now it's just sad. Ridgeway.Rambler - 16 May 2009 18:26
Nice old pub but a poor selection of beers and a sub-mediocre meal leave me wondering what they do care about. Maybe the cook or the cellarman was having a day off. jathomson - 10 Dec 2008 08:40
Great, friendly local with very friendly landlady. A shame they replaced a very good Theakston's with IPA but otherwise faultless. Open fire is very welcoming but watch your head on the (padded) beam near the bar. paulf - 28 Nov 2008 14:10
