user reviews of the Blue Anchor Inn, Aintree

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

A sorry tale indeed.

At one time it stood head and shoulders above the others in the area. Pity some people can't compete by normal market methods.

DO NOT GO TO THIS PUB FOR A BUFFET UNDER NO UNCERTAIN TERMS! We were charged over 400.00 for a buffet which consisted of the poorest qaulity food which in my opinion must have cost no more than 35.00-40.00. Although staff very friendly, the food was served in the pool room on old bare, wooden, beer stained tables with no presentation whatsoever, with no tablecloths and served in commercial cooking trays. Hooded yobs with access to the food, helping themselves and doing goodness knows what to it. I could go on and on....

When complained to the management he didn't want to know and was extremley rude on the phone, although slightly better manner when spoke to in person but has now washed his hands of the matter due to the high number of complaints from family and friends.

Just read in the local paper that this pub was fire-bombed again on Friday night.

I was unable to use this pub, as planned, prior to Saturdays Grand National due to somebody fire-bombing it a couple of days earlier.
What a sad reflection on the city of Liverpool.
I hope it reopens soon.
