| I echo the sentiments of the previous post. Nice enough kind of place but a tad over priced. The real ales were all the usual bland offering found around this area, Ringwood, Doom Bar etc. So bland in fact, I opted for a pint of cider. wolvesfan - 28 Jul 2017 11:36 |

| This is a great pub in one of the loveliest villages in the New Forest. Understandably it will get busy at times, but I feel the two comments below do not justify the place (some people…) This weekend, we did not eat but just drank at the bar, propped up on two milk churns for stools, talking to the very friendly staff. The decor was lovely and garden looked inviting. This place is well worth a visit, but it might be advised to choose your timing or book ahead as it becomes very popular. I drank the Flack's Double Drop which was outstanding. We have eaten here before and remember the food fondly. We look forward to our next visit. BiffoBeer - 29 May 2013 10:25 |
| Had a pint of Ringwood Boondoggle and my wife had a mixed orange and lemonade (which turned out to be orange and soda water). At the Royal Oak, Fritham, a similar strength beer and soft drink cost �4.20, but here it was �6.20. On requesting the details, the beer was �3.80 and the soft drink �2.40. Maybe the food would have been excellent, but when management push the price envelope too far, I leave. The beer was hazy, but tasted OK, but at that price it has to be perfect. | We arrived here a couple of weeks ago, this was a pub that I had last visited a few years ago but since its gastro menu on its website had been introduced, there was nothing we fancied eating at the prices shown. Anyway, decided to go for a pint and a snack to see how the palce had been altered to fit in with its gastro upgrade. As we climbed the steps to the garden there were empty boxes and crates dumped by the top of the steps. The grass in the garden had not been cut and the area seemed unloved. There was mud on the edge of the path next to the building that we had to step around. Looked into the pub, nothing seemed to have been changed, there were few patrons there, it seemed dark and uninviting. We left. Feed - 25 Jul 2012 08:50 |
