I was totally bored the whole time I was here, although the place has a great location you just can't really see anything wherever you sit here, just concrete everywhere! | Dukes is a bit of an enigma. It is a well presented pub that is always clean and tidy. The staff are always well turned out and they remember to smile. It has a great position on the sea front and that's about it. The things that it can't seem to get right are pretty important. The beer is not looked after as well as it should be, the food is consistently OK to not very good. The staff whilst trying to please don't seem very educated about the products that they are serving whether that be food or drink. As a result every time I visit Dukes I am always left with the feeling of being appeased, and paying for the privilege rather than being welcomed and warmed. The overall effect is sterile and characterless, but it has a great position in town and so will always do well, with passing trade.
