The heritage of this pub is excellent having hosted numerous groups in the past, I believe including the Jam, and others not coming to mind at the moment (many posters will be able to fill this blank in). Reminds me a lot of the Claremont in Byfleet and is run in the same surly manner. A hotbed of violence and petty crime for years avoid at all costs.

This is going to be an example of a pub who in the New Year will be complaining that business has been hit by the smoking ban – what a load of rubbish!! – this pub can easily cope with the bad weather, the smoking ban but what it does need is a big overhaul of retail standards as they are terrible, I'm not sure whats going on with the manager but surely he shouldn't be stood behind the bar, drinking, wearing an unironed t-shirt with his breakfast down the front!!, it needs someone to replace lightbulbs, clean tables and a friendly welcome, unless you've been local you are made to feel decisdely uncomfortable - this is my local I've tried it twice now but I won't be back again, I'll be one of the many that walk the 20 minutes into town instead!!
