Afraid I don't share any sadness at the closure of this place. I usually don't like to see a pub close but this one is an exception. On my midweek afternoon visit I couldn't get near the bar as the were half a dozen pushchairs complete with brat inside lined up facing the bar, each accompanied by an obese teenage mother sucking garish coloured drinks form a straw. When I eventually found a gap I ordered a pint of Brakspear's Gold which was pure vinegar. On returning it to the barman ( who looked liked he may have been one of the pushchair occupants not that long ago) he asked if I wanted my replacement pint in the same glass. After refusing his kind offer I tried the Pedigree which was also rubbish and had to be changed for lager - and now I'm just a moaning old git because I won't accept the crap on offer. Whatever happens to the place, whether it becomes a trendy wine bar, a Harvester, a block of flats or a crack den... it can only be an improvement.

Was sad to discover when visiting the area in April 2010 that this pub is closed and empty - presumably for refurbishment as the outside was scaffolded.

Used to be a friendly town center boozer with a very decent pint of Marston's Peddy.
