Feels a bit like a hotel with it's small bar area and restaurant style seating, and strange layout. No real ales, so only catering for diners, and lager drinkers.

They also need to sort out the music. The last two times we were here, they had Tina Turner blaring out the speakers. This appeared to be the only CD they had. Not the sort of place to go for a quiet drink.

Visited this pub not long after it reopened and then again a few weeks ago.

My impression of the Bull on the Green is that the new owners can't seem to decide whether they want to run the business as a pub or an average gastro-pub. Either way it's not working. The outside has a wonderful traditional look but yet inside you feel it's more a modern restaurant that happens to have a bar.

As a foodie place I would see it as very hard to compete against the many fine restaurants and eating places on it's door step in Station Road.

As a pub, they're not going to compete against other locals that are cheaper, have better beers selection and have the capability to show live sports (in particular Premiership Football). A major factor also has to be the fact they they are only licensed until 10pm (as a result of problems that occurred under the previous owenership), which would obviously deter the late night weekend drinker.

As for the beers, on my first visit the Kronebourg was fine, if a little pricey at around 3.50 a pint. Second visit was disappointing as the beer quality was very poor. So much so, that we all left after only just one drink and took the short walk to the Kings Head nearby.

I hope it works out for the new owners and possibly with a few changes this pub could become a really established venue again. I'll probably stick my head in again sometime next year and see if theres been any change.

Yeah, it is listed. I had a drink here about a year and a half ago and it was totally dead, so I wasn't surprised to see it closed and boarded up at the weekend. So what's going on then? I do hope it's re-opened as a pub, as it's a lovely ornate Victiorian buillding, right at the centre of the old village and has great potential.

Is the rumour correct that there is going to be a gay bar upstairs. If so is it going to open to everyone or just gay men. Will straight people be let in?
