Actually I think its fair to point out that Abaya was only the second most violent pub in surrey. http://www.stainesnews.co.uk/staines-and-ashford-news/news-staines-and-ashford/2008/07/30/vennues-with-a-violent-streak-54472-21442002/ If you can't manage to find someone to fight inside try looking at the monosyllabic doormen in the "wrong way" or standing too close to their extremely precious rope when you exit, and you'll be virtually guaranteed a pugilistic work out. Yes, if you fancy being violently set upon by a group of men dressed in black this is your next best bet after taking hostages in the Iranian Embassy. TontoMcTavish - 28 Aug 2008 17:07
Recently voted the 'most violent pub' in North Surrey I understand... So a chance to loose all your teeth and your money in one go! If you like that sort of thing then this is the sort of thing you will enjoy otherwise keep away. revbrianlovecraftscott - 8 Aug 2008 16:30
menacing door staff at entrance staring at your footwear guest-list only, Weybridge winebar in Mayfair nightclub guise, hence has the air of a WAG/footballer wannabe hangout - to be missed if you're claustrophobic, I wouldn't like to think what the official licensed capacity is but it's like a "how many people can we in a mini" challenge used to stop serving tap beer after 9 as it got "too busy to serve pints" - the cynic in me says its so they charge double for way over-priced bottled beer, but surely not ;o) but then some people love dressing up to be ripped off & drink in a bar resembling a rush hour central line carriage if it were any more pretentious it'd disappear up it's own cellar with a pop doobydooby - 8 Jul 2008 12:52
PROS: Close to station and taxi rank (very important because you'll want to leave! CONS: 8 quid cover charge to get in, rude and obnoxious bouncers make you queue for no reason (in the rain) other than they want to make the place look popular and it gives them the chance to try and give their fists some exercise. Absurdly expensive drinks, derivative music, massive queue for toilets, very chavvy but stuck up patrons, slow bar staff. There are cheaper and places to have a pint and a punch-up. saucy69 - 25 May 2008 17:11
Unpleasant and overly aggressive door staff before you enter seem to delight in trying to pick a fight with the customers. Very thorough search (presumably for drugs) and you discover why when you get in... Once inside there is an atmosphere like a school disco, but with west end prices for drinks. The feel is of a little bit of essex in the surrey countryside. You might have had a thorough search for drugs, but the chap who tries to sell you drugs right in front of the bar staff obviously hasn't... Not a very good evening. But somewhat better than the guys getting worked over by the door staff as we waited for our taxi. TontoMcTavish - 1 May 2008 23:51
