user reviews of the Cuthbert Brodrick, Leeds

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

The room of this spoons is very large but most of the seating is upstairs and the downstairs bar area can feel quite cramped by spoons standards. On the bar there was- Gorlovka by Acorn brewery, Abolition by Sonnet 43, Leeds brewery pale, Greene King IPA, Abbot, Doom bar. I actually wentbto the IPA at 2.05, I would have tried one of the guest beers but they were too pricey for a spoons for my liking. The cheapest was 2.85 and the most expensive was 3.45 (The Gorlovka, which actually sounded quite nice in all honesty)! The location is quite nice and it would be nice on a Summers day to sit outside. May be this is just me but I thought it was too over the top for a Spoons (to be fair it was either Gorlovka or nothing and I didn't fancy paying 3.45 for it).

Absoutely overwhelmed at about 4pm on a sunny Good Friday, and benefitting from the likes of the Victoria shutting their doors all day. Bar staff did their best to get the baying hoards their drinks as swiftly as possible, not helped by people paying for only two drinks (less than a fiver) with a card and others dithering over food orders. Cash-only drink-only tills might have been useful. Decent beer from Leeds brewery was our choice, unusual modern building, plenty of glass overlooking the square.

Surprisingly good food, surprisingly good ales. And less than 2.00 a pint ! So it's a Wetherspoons ? Well, if I may be allowed to quote from 'Donnie Brasco' - "F**kin' forget about it ! I like it a lot ! I like it big time !"

Still good beer, but the service in here can be a little sketchy. Last time I was in, one barmaid was telling off a barman for trying to continue a conversation while she was serving a customer - while she was serving. Uncomfortable glances all around!

Excellent beer, a large beer patio overlooking Millennium Square, can't be faulted for food at all. Expect it to be busy during the World Cup. Generally a more upmarket clientele than the other 3 Wetherspoons in Leeds due to its location.
