| Reasonable kind of refurb of this roomy pub that backs on the canal. Proclaims it's inclusion in the GBG 2011. Was empty on this Friday afternoon visit. Three ales on - Blue Monkeys 99 Red Baboons being the only unusual one. Not sure I'm a fan of it though but it's probably more the beer itself rather than the condition. | A big pub on the outskirts of Chester. Stopped by for lunch - a very nice welcome, served immediately and taken to a table. Very good local beer recommended (Piffle I think), with 3 or 4 others on. Food arrived quite quickly and was excellent - home-made fishcakes plus a really good steak.cheese bloomer. | A very warm welcome, excellent staff. The beers and food are very good and at a reasonable price. During colder weather get a seat on one of the comfy sofas by the fire and you won't want to move. This is a very well run pub. stevewarrentours - 23 Mar 2010 16:38 |
