| Interesting building externally, right in the middle of Moseley. Seems to only open in the evening: certainly looked closed at lunchtime on a sunday (though cleaning staff were visible through the windows). Posters advertising musical performances suggests this is more of a music club than a pub in the conventional sense, but, given proximity of decent pubs in the immediate vicinity (Elizabeth of York, Fighting Cocks, Prince of Wales), nobody need feel deprived. | Top Notch... Great Staff and little club bit upstairs at the weekend. New food is great. Week night or weekend this place has atmosphere and attracts the real people of Moseley not the pouting wannabee's and look at me I'm so boho chic toss pots of the fighting cocks ... The manager is a top chap. happyhead - 16 Dec 2009 19:18 |
| s'alright. Hasn't really worked its balance between a 'traditional dim-lighted boozer' or an 'indie nightpub' - especially as both of those ideas seem a bit contrived. It's easy to get bored of Theakstons too. Very friendly staff mind, and being right opposite the Number 1 bus stop works in its favour too. getsit - 3 Nov 2009 23:04 |
| its like drinking in a sardine can. bouncers are needlessly confrontational. Downstairs music is very much navel-gazing self-indulgence tat trying to sell itself as 'cool'. Poorly trained staff means that at even medium-full, it will take you an age to get served. Seem to employed more for their look than for their competency to pull a pint, one staff member didn't know what a 'whiskey mac' was. Beer is good though. Upstairs is very much a hit-and-miss affair but to be fair that is because they want to cater to as broad a musical spectrum as possible. Some of the indie nights are quality. Ok bar...but they need to get the basics right. sharpey2009 - 2 Jan 2009 12:54 |
| Pub choice of the Chinless Wonder, the Empty Suit and the Weekend Warrior. Would rather give my money to Simon Cowell. Beastlyrotter - 8 Aug 2008 23:29 |
