Popped into here for a spot of lunch. Ordered a ploughmans and a cheese and pickle bagutte. The food arrived and Ploughmans was good value at £6.95. The cheese and pickle baguette was tiny. The price was not shown on the board for the baguette. I was then slapped a charge of £4.95 for the baguette. I raised this with the owner who said 'That's a fair price as you pay £2.50 in a garage, you've sat down in here and you've had the food served to you.' I told him it is outrageous as there was no side salad or anything, just a tiny baguette about 10cm in length. The lanadlord then said 'Well you loose out with the cheese and pickle as the ham or sausage you get more. He then went onto say he has to pay 95p on that baguette'. He is a rude and obnoxious man. A local told me that he cuts the baguettes in half to make more money out of them.

Please do not waste your hard earned money in this establishment. You will regret it.

Popped in to break our journey from the Midlands down to Devon on a rainy, cold lunchtime. Pub looks quite nice, though probably looked even nicer before they added a smoking tent to the front. Large, easily accessible car park, relatively newly renovated to a smart standard; quite woody interior with good looking though quite pricy menu.

The Ringwood 49'er looked tempting, so I ordered a pint, the boss had a normal coffee and the two kids had small cokes. When the round came to nearly a tenner I asked for a breakdown of the bill and the quite helpful barmaid was somewhat embarrassed to admit that 1/2 pints of coke were £2 each.

Now to me, it doesn't matter how nice the decor appears or how good the (admittedly very good) 49'er is - if you are going to charge me £4 a pint for post-mix coke you are telling me to 'p... off' to my face and I don't like it.

If I had not been feeling subdued after half a lousy journey, I would quite probably have demanded of the manager any possible justification for charging more for middling soft drinks than premium lagers. In the circumstances I merely glared at the poor barmaid and stormed off to try to find some solace in my pint (I failed).

AVOID this greedy ripoff place.
